Montreal Winter Wedding – Auberge des Gallant

As a photographer, I’m always inspired by winter weddings. A snowy backdrop and cozy candle-lit interiors make winter weddings very unique and fun to photograph.winter_wedding
I want to share with you some of the photos of Kirsten and Josh’s late January wedding. The marriage ceremony and wedding reception were held at the Auberge des Gallant in Rigaud Quebec, about 45 minutes outside of Montreal.

The preparations were done in one of the guest rooms of the main hotel. Warm light flooded in from the large windows and created an atmosphere for beautiful photography.winter bride
I love to photograph little candid moments, like in the photo above. I find them timeless – especially in black & white. Wedding photography is a mix of documentary photography, fine art photography and fashion photography. All combined, the bride and groom get a beautiful balanced account of their wedding day.winter wedding portrait
It’s always a nice thing if you can get the bridal party outdoors for a photo. It’s cold without the jackets, so I always work quickly!

I believe that outdoor photography at a winter wedding is essential. No matter the weather, I always insist on doing a few photos outdoors, even if just for a few minutes. These outdoor photos really make the wedding photography special. It’s worth braving the cold for the beautiful memories that you will have forever!winter weddingoutdoor winter weddingwinter_wedding_08bridal party photo
I love the way this reception hall was decorated. Hats off to Katrina Schaller from Deka Events for her skillful wedding coordination and set-up. The long banquet tables, the white drapes and the floral centerpieces all created a beautiful atmosphere. And I was told that the white lanterns are installed permanently at this wedding location (Maple Pavillion of the Auberge des Gallant in Rigaud). wedding reception hall decorationwinter wedding cake and flowers

I also thought the sweet table was beautiful and inviting. There was a cute candy bar and two wedding cakes, including a traditional Danish Wedding Cake made by the bride’s mother that you can see in the photo below on the left. Candles lit the table and the word “amour” added a touch of rustic charm to the whole sweet table.winter_wedding_19winter wedding
