Hotel Sofitel Montreal, Golden Mile

Sofitel wedding venue in MontrealHotel Sofitel Montreal, Golden Mile
1155 Sherbrooke Ouest
Montreal, Quebec, H3A 2N3

This is one of my most favourite locations in Montreal.  Perfect location, perfect service, perfect food.  If the meal you serve your guests is a priority, this is a top pick!  It is urban chic, close to downtown, with lots of nearby options for photography (including the McGill grounds and the steps of the Musée des Beaux Arts).

Omni Mount-Royal HotelOmni Mount-Royal Hotel wedding in Montreal

Omni Mount-Royal Hotel
1050 Sherbrooke Street West
Montreal, Quebec H3A 2R6
This beautiful hotel is located right downtown. The Omni has always been of my favourite wedding reception locations. This hotel has an elegant entrance, privacy of the reception halls being on their own floor. It is within walking distance to downtown restaurants and shopping. There are many locations close by for wedding photos. And it’s only a 10 minute drive to go to Old Montreal – if that’s where you would like to have your photos done. It offers parking (which is a very good thing) and has 2 beautiful rooms for receptions and a large windowed area for cocktails.

Entrepots Dominion

Entrepots Dominion wedding venue in Montreal
Entrepots Dominion
3968 St-Ambroise
Montreal, Quebec H4C 2C7

This venue is a great choice because it is located close to downtown, very private (with parking) and you can bring in your own caterer and bar (a rarity for Montreal). The Entrepots Dominion also gives you access to one of the most inspiring wedding planners I’ve ever met – Emmanuel Goubard.

La Toundra

La Toundra wedding venue in Montreal
La Toundra
1, circuit Gilles-Villeneuve
Montréal (Quebec)
Canada H3C 1A9
If you’re looking for an inexpensive show-stopper location close to Montreal – this is it! The old Canada Pavilion (now available for rent) is nestled among beautifully landscaped gardens – also perfect for an outdoor wedding ceremony.  You can bring in your own catering and your own bar – and it has the added cache of being on the Grand Prix track. But book early – this venue is in high demand!

The Ritz-Carlton Montreal

The Ritz-Carlton Montreal
1228 Sherbrooke Street West
Montréal, Québec H3G 1H6
The newly renovated Ritz Carleton is the epitome of luxury and elegance. The historic oval room is still as breathtaking now as it was when I first started working there 12 years ago.  The garden is perfect for photos as well as the grand front entrance. I have included two of my favourite rooms at the Ritz – the Oval Room and the Palm Room.

Le Westin Montreal Hotel

Right across from the ‘Palais des Congres’ in the heart of Old Montreal, this hotel offers a great location with a panoramic view of Montreal from the largest ballroom.  It is also perfectly located for couples looking to do their wedding pictures in Old Montreal.

Montreal Science Centre – Panoramic Hall
The Montréal Science Centre is located at the foot of the St-Laurent Boulevard, on the King-Edward quay.
This Glass-encased hall has a beautiful panoramic view over Montreal.  There is a large balcony attached so guests can step out for fresh air or to see the fireworks during Montreal’s international fireworks competion. It is a unique location for a wedding and has a few spaces that would  accomodate both your ceremony and cocktails.

Scena wedding venue in Old MontrealScena
Quai Jacques-Cartier,
Montréal, QC H2Y 2E2

Scena is a glass encased room on one of the piers of the Old Port. Surrounded by water it is a truly unique location. There is also a lovely exterior terrasse and a magnificent view of Montreal and the Jacques Cartier bridge as the sun sets. It would be a great place to be during the International Fireworks Competition (check this link for dates).

Auberge Saint-Gabriel

Auberge Saint-Gabriel wedding venue in Old Montreal

Auberge Saint-Gabriel
426 St-Gabriel
Montreal, Quebec
 H2Y 2Z9
This charming Inn located in Old Montreal has two very nice reception rooms with lots of Old World atmosphere. The first is a quirky little venue located at the top of a winding staircase – it was almost an adventure getting there! But once arrived it is very private, rustic and quite unique. The second is on the ground floor with access to the bar area for cocktails.

La Vieille Brasserie

This hidden gem is located right on the water’s edge in Lachine. This venue offers great outdoor options for the ceremony (either on their balcony or terrasse – both overlooking the canal). Capacity is 110 people. This is a very affordable option for those with a smaller budget.

Plaza Volare

plaza VolarePlaza Volare
6600 Cote-de-Liesse

Plaza Volare is a great option for a wedding. They do many events and run a smooth and service oriented operation. They also have a large tented area in the back where you can have your ceremony.

Golf St-Raphael

Golf St-Raphael wedding venue in Montreal

Golf St-Raphael
1111, de l’Église
Ile Bizard, Québec, H9C 1H2
A classic golf club location for a wedding. The advantage of a golf club is that you can also have the ceremony in this location. I’ve included a photo of the indoor ceremony set-up because I thought it was beautifully done. The outdoor covered terrasse is great for cocktails and generally a very good option not far from Montreal.

Chateau Taiffer Lafon

Chateau Taiffer Lafon
1500 Montée Champagne
Ste-Dorothée, Laval

This private vinyard estate located about 20 minutes from downtown Montreal was a recent discovery for me. If you are looking for an intimate location with the option of an outdoor ceremony, you should absolutely check out this location. And you could have cocktails outside overlooking the gorgeous landscape and your wedding photos in the vineyard – perfect!

Auberge des Gallant (Rigaud)

Auberge des Gallant (Rigaud)
1171, ch. St-Henri,
Ste-Marthe, Québec

This charming venue is a wood framed building across for the Auberge. If you would like to have a wedding in a very natural outdoors-y setting, this would be a wonderful choice. There is also a larger reception hall in the main building. And if you like the paper lanterns, they are a permanent fixture – so that saves you hours of work! Auberge des Gallant is about 45 minutes from Montreal.

Au Vieux Moulin (Rigaud)

Au Vieux Moulin weddingAu Vieux Moulin (Rigaud)

Also in Rigaud, and only 45 minutes from Montreal, this private site is perfect for an outdoor ceremony, cocktails and a charming indoor reception. Check their website for additonal photos, the grounds are beautiful!

Royal Military College Saint-Jean

Wedding Venue in St-Jean - Royal Military College
Royal Military College Saint-Jean
15 Rue Jacques-Cartier N,
St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Qc

Located on the bank of the Saint-Jean River, this place really impressed me.  Also very private, the guests could spill out onto the terrasse outside and walk along the river.  I’m also a very big fan of their chandeliers and large windows overlooking the river. This venue is about an hour from Montreal.

Manoir Rouville-Cambell

Manoir Rouville-Cambell - wedding venue
Manoir Rouville-Cambell
125, chemin des Patriotes sud,
Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Quebec, J3H 3G5

This historic manor house is located in beautiful Mont-St-Hilaire which is only about 1.5 hrs from Montreal. The gardens are spectacular and there are two reception halls. The one pictured above looks into the inner courtyard and the larger reception room looks out on the river. Breathtaking location for a wedding! Here is a photo of the exterior of the Manoir Rouville-Campbell that I found on Booking.com.

Chateau St-Antoine

Best wedding venues in Montreal

Chateau St-Antoine
1000 Rue du Rivage,

The Chateau St-Antoine is a perfect location for a wedding. This historic building has been beautifully maintained and adapted to host events. There are well-manicured gardens and outdoor space for cocktails and wedding photos. There are two reception halls. The one shown here is a tented extension that has been added so you can have the feel of a tented garden wedding 3 seasons of the year.

Winter Wedding – Auberge des Gallant

As a photographer, I’m always inspired by winter weddings. A snowy backdrop and cozy candle-lit interiors make winter weddings very unique and fun to photograph.winter_wedding
I want to share with you some of the photos of Kirsten and Josh’s late January wedding. The marriage ceremony and wedding reception were held at the Auberge des Gallant in Rigaud Quebec, about 45 minutes outside of Montreal.

The preparations were done in one of the guest rooms of the main hotel. Warm light flooded in from the large windows and created an atmosphere for beautiful photography.winter bride
I love to photograph little candid moments, like in the photo above. I find them timeless – especially in black & white. Wedding photography is a mix of documentary photography, fine art photography and fashion photography. All combined, the bride and groom get a beautiful balanced account of their wedding day.winter wedding portrait
It’s always a nice thing if you can get the bridal party outdoors for a photo. It’s cold without the jackets, so I always work quickly!

I believe that outdoor photography at a winter wedding is essential. No matter the weather, I always insist on doing a few photos outdoors, even if just for a few minutes. These outdoor photos really make the wedding photography special. It’s worth braving the cold for the beautiful memories that you will have forever!winter weddingoutdoor winter weddingwinter_wedding_08bridal party photo
I love the way this reception hall was decorated. Hats off to Katrina Schaller from Deka Events for her skillful wedding coordination and set-up. The long banquet tables, the white drapes and the floral centerpieces all created a beautiful atmosphere. And I was told that the white lanterns are installed permanently at this wedding location (Maple Pavillion of the Auberge des Gallant in Rigaud). wedding reception hall decorationwinter wedding cake and flowers
I also thought the sweet table was beautiful and inviting. There was a cute candy bar and two wedding cakes, including a traditional Danish Wedding Cake made by the bride’s mother that you can see in the photo below on the left. Candles lit the table and the word “amour” added a touch of rustic charm to the whole sweet table.winter_wedding_19winter wedding
